Description: In today’s technology-rich world, library staff play an essential role in helping students to learn how to use digital tools. In addition to influencing what library staff teach, emerging digital tools can also help library staff to modify how they teach and support learning in their institutions.

This one-day workshop will explore a range of technologies that can be used to support teaching and learning. Participants will also hear about approaches adopted by other teaching and learning librarians.

Course Objectives:  

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Consider the role of technology in enhancing learning and in supporting collaborative learning
  • Plan the integration of technologies into a range of classroom activities
  • Understand the benefits of screencasting within a Blended Learning approach to content delivery
  • Create a screencast and embed interactive elements in to it
  • Use Twitter as a communication tool
  • Consider effective implementations of student response systems in their teaching
  • Define ‘eAssessment’ and describe issues to be considered when designing eAssessments
