Annual Seminar 2021

About this Event

In common with every aspect of society, the education sector has been required to transition to new ways of teaching and engaging with students throughout the period of COVID-19 restrictions. This seminar will focus on the approaches taken to digital education and online teaching within our academic libraries. We’ll look at challenges and opportunities presented by the changed environment, and how they will guide us to develop new teaching practices and pedagogical approaches for life beyond Covid.

Keynote speaker: Dr Sharon Flynn, Project Manager – Enhancing Digital Capacity in Irish Universities, Irish Universities Association

Papers will be delivered on the following themes:

  • Engaging with learners in an online environment: tools and techniques to enhance the student experience and promote interaction
  • Experiences of teaching online: approaches that worked (and those that did not!), and incorporating these approaches in a post-Covid world
  • Understanding the student experience: what were the most significant challenges they faced, and what helped them the most?
  • Developing content for teaching online: creation, curation and showcasing of digital content
